The most traditional of the seven Indian oud is earthy, herbal and grounding — the oud that people who grew up around it recognise immediately. Dry earth and green herbs at the opening, leather and medicinal wood underneath. It is the least sweet oil we carry, and the most serious. Ours comes from Assam, in northeast India. It is grown, not taken from wild forest — the trees are planted and tended, wounded deliberately, then left for years while the resin forms.
