What this site is

Heart & Industry is a catalogue and a reference. It is not a shop. We hold no stock, take no payment, process no orders and ship nothing. Every purchase you make is a contract between you and the maker or retailer you clicked through to, under their terms, and any question about price, availability, delivery, returns or faults is theirs to answer rather than ours.

What we claim, and what we do not

The methodology page sets this out properly and is the more useful document. In short:

We report what companies say about themselves, with a link to where they said it. We do not certify anybody. A statement on a product page that a maker states it manufactures in Sheffield is a claim about what that maker has published, attributed and dated, and not a warranty by us that it is true.

Prices are read from the maker’s own page and go stale. We store the date we read them. Treat every price here as an indication and the merchant’s own page as the fact.

Some things are missing on purpose. Where a maker does not state something, the page says nothing rather than guessing. An absence here is an absence of evidence, not evidence of absence.

We take reasonable care, and we would rather be told we are wrong than be left wrong: the contact page exists for that and corrections are welcome. But the catalogue is offered as it is, and to the extent the law allows we do not accept liability for a decision made on the strength of it. Nothing here is legal, financial or professional advice, and nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Money

Some outbound links are affiliate links, and we may be paid a commission if you buy through them. It costs you nothing and it does not change what appears here or in what order: a maker cannot pay to be listed, and no ranking on this site is for sale. Where a placement is ever paid for, it will say so on the page. We do not link to Amazon.

Using the site

You are welcome to read it, link to it, quote it with attribution, and use it to decide what to buy. Please do not scrape it wholesale to rebuild the catalogue somewhere else, and do not present our text or structure as your own work. The underlying facts belong to nobody; the writing, the schema and the arrangement are ours.

The site is provided without any guarantee that it will be available or uninterrupted, and we may change or remove anything on it.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
