Kitchari a mix of spices and seeds created for making the classic vegan rice-lentil dish. Steenbergs Kitchari Spice Mix is Axel s take on this classic Ayurvedic spice blend for making kitchari. We were asked to develop this by a Hindu charity tackling food poverty in London in 2018. To make Kitchari, Steenbergs toasts the key seeds, then grinds and blends these together to make a rich and pungent spice mix, created for vegan cooking and works really well with all pulses and rice dishes. The company describes its own premises: "It was set up in 2003 by Axel and Sophie Steenberg (pictured) in North Yorkshire.
