The Fens spans three counties: Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. It is also my ancestral home. Most people with the Gash surname live in this region but my mum's side of the family also hail from The Fens . Flat and fertile, it is home to much wildfowl and wildlife, living in the salty marshlands that cover much of the region. Much of Britain's produce comes from this region and in my illustration of The Fens , I have featured a potato picker and tractor doing their job, keeping the country fed. It's rich farmland has led to many, pretty, little market towns, dotted across The Fens . C
