The magnificent, four bridges that span the River Tyne are for me the highlight of my design of Newcastle and a pleasure to draw. I love the individual character of each bridge and how one relates to another, like people standing together in a row. Feminine curves and masculine columns contrast but make the perfect fit, above which soars the iconic Angel of the North. Newcastle's cultural heritage, whether it's the cinema, theatre or China Town is a key part of the fabric of this design. I didn't know that Newcastle has a tunnel running under the city, from the Town Moor down to the River Tyne
