The Lake District is an area of outstanding beauty in the north of Britain. I have climbed its mountain peaks as woman and girl and my legs ache at the memory. As an artist, I have always been drawn to the Lake District , whether it's the charm of Beatrix Potter's life and works or the appeal of coloured pencils from Keswick. My illustration of the Lake District includes some of its local heroes: Beatrix Potter and the lesser known Sarah Nelson - maker of Grasmere gingerbread. William Wordsworth, John Ruskin and Alfred Wainwright. The beautiful lakes (too many to mention and even draw) feature
