I went on a family camping holiday to the Isle of Arran when I was 16. It rained every day and as such it was the last family camping trip we ever went on. I was promised the warmth of the Gulf Stream and instead half froze to death on the top of Goatfell, even though it was the middle of the summer. Many decades later I appreciate the bleak beauty of the Scottish Highlands and Islands and the wonderful wildlife to which it is home. In the many Scottish Cityscapes I have drawn, including the Isle of Arran , I have loved to get to know and draw its natural, rugged landscape, the beautiful stags
