Inverness is way up on the Scottish coast, where it's very, very cold in the winter and not much warmer in the summer. This makes the people strong and brave, as the battle of Culloden in 1746 proves. My Cityscape of Inverness therefore includes this famous battle between the Scots and the English. I've been to the site of the battle. It's a bleak and barren place, a vast, graveyard where many men lost their lives in the fight for their land and people.
