This design is part of an exclusive, creative collaboration between iconic German bookstore Thalia and Julia Gash. Friesland is a region of Germany that crosses into the northern part of the Netherlands. Historically known as Frisia, it has a long and complex history rooting from the migration of the Germanic people after which it was named. As shown in my illustration, water canals form a significant part of the architecture, with access to the UNESCO protected Wadden Sea Islands and I loved drawing the diverse waterfowl and marine life, which have their home in this watery region.
