Bonn sits on the banks of the River Rhein, a mix of confident, modernist architecture and equally confident Gothic buildings such as the delightful Munster, which is the centre of my illustration of the city, next to the Altes Rathaus. An annual, two month long, Karneval sweeps through the city each year where people process through the city in very strange and colourful, traditional costume. The people of Bonn know how to party! Bonn's local hero is the composer Beethoven. He features in my illustration, just above his birthplace, now a museum. And of course there's an annual Beethoven festiv
