Finca La Idolia is one for four adjacent farms owned by Fernando Díaz and his family. Like his father before him, Fernando grows Catuaí and Bourbon at La Idolia. New seeds are selected from the best performing trees on the farm, then cultivated at the farm’s nursery. At Santa Ana (one of the four farms from which we also buy coffee), Fernando grows Catuaí, Dilla, SL28 and Geisha. He is also running some experiments with Pacas, which should grow well in this region, and Mibirizi which is a variety from Rwanda and Burundi with a nice cup quality but susceptibility to some coffee diseases.
