SL28 seeds were first germinated at Malacara A in 2015. These seedlings developed into full trees from which the next seedstock was collected, germinated, and planted out on plot (tablón) five. Most farms will have coffee nurseries and development plots of their own, but there is still a thriving market in seedstock and seedlings. Each year, the farm will select coffee fruit from the middle branch sections of particularly well performing trees.
