The Monge Quirós Family had a challenging harvest due to an extended rainy season. This caused difficulties with both roya (coffee leaf rust) and ojo de gallo (rooster’s eye) two fungal diseases that attack the coffee leaves. Both fungi thrive during periods of warm weather and high humidity. The weather also caused an inconsistent maturation of the cherries and an early flowering for the following crop.
