Silverio Nina started growing coffee in 2007. He is a third-generation coffee farmer who grew up helping his father and grandfather grow coffee in Manco Kapac, a nearby village close to Copacabana. Silverio has his own coffee nursery at Finca Oro Verde where he grows Catuaí, Caturra, and Java varietals. At Oro Verde, each coffee tree yields between two and two-and-a-half kilograms of cherry per year. This is managed with a controlled pruning programme which encourages new growth.
