Wrexham

In 1882 German immigrants Ivan Levinstein and Otto Isler established the brewery in Wrexham, using the "traditional Bavarian method" for lager production. Robert Graesser later introduced mechanical refrigeration and eventually took full ownership. The brewery exported globally under the "Ace of Clubs" brand, becoming "the first lager imported to far off countries, including India, South Africa, the Americas and Australia", and the sole lager served aboard the Titanic. Commercial production ceased at the Wrexham site in 2000 and total UK production ended in 2002; the brewery was demolished and replaced with a retail park. Martin Jones MP, a former employee, purchased the brand rights from Carlsberg for one pound. He partnered with the Roberts family, local Wrexham entrepreneurs, who took over the microbrewery in 2011. Rob McElhenney, Ryan Reynolds and the Allyn family later became co-owners alongside the Roberts family.
