"For over 30 years, the small family firm Meikles of Scotland have crafted Stag's Breath Liqueur in the heart of the Scottish Highlands." The business was established by Yvonne and Les, operating from Newtonmore in the Scottish Highlands, overlooking the Speyside region with its heather-clad mountains and the River Spey. On the recipe: "we took premium comb honey and fermented it, as our ancestors did to make mead. Suddenly, the flavour came alive!" Yvonne describes seeking "the perfect balance of sweetness and warmth, with the fermentation adding an elegant complexity." The result is "hand crafted with care, right here in Newtonmore", intended to capture "the very essence of Highland Speyside". The homepage adds it is "Lovingly crafted by the same small family company for over 30 years".
