German, circa 1810. Footnote: Carl Johann Sigmund Bauer (1780-1857), with his father, Johann Bernard Bauer (1752-1839) and his brother, Peter Bauer (1783-1847), formed a distinguished family of globe makers, scientific instrument makers and engravers in Nuremburg, Germany.
