A Fine Set of Four George II Style Walnut Armchairs with Original Needlework Upholstery, c.1920 The chairs are of broadly “compass-back form with shepherds crook arm supports that join the side rails and cabriole legs, which are of finely flowing form with pad feet. The front knees on each chair have restrained central strapwork carving. Made in the 1920s, at the time when many important collections of antique English furniture were being formed under the guidance of the likes of R. W. Symonds and Percy MacQuoid, these chairs were probably made by one of a number of dealers of that period who
