A 2½ inch reflecting telescope by John Cuthbert, London, circa 1852. This Gregorian cylindrical brass telescope retains its original fitted mahogany box. There is also a tripod stand with levelling screws which allows the telescope to be used on a table while focussing is achieved by moving the tiny mirror at the top of the tube. Signed on the back plate John Cuthbert, London. English, circa 1852.
