What is RO (Reverse Osmosis) Water? RO water is typically water that has been processed through a water softener to exchange the harness salts (such as Calcium or Magnesium) for more soluble salts (Such as Sodium Chloride), which can then be filtered using reverse osmosis membranes. A membrane s typical salt rejection rate is between 95% and 99% of the feed water. For example, if the incoming feed water is 100 ppm and the membrane rejection rate is 95%, the product quality will contain 5 ppm of the incoming feedwater salts. This means that a small level of hardness will remain within the water
