While most cultures have added salt to their food, the Japanese spent the last 400 years adding it to their clothes – mixing saline and heat to distort fabric, making it stronger, denser and more breathable. We took that process and reinvented it. Working with one of Japan’s leading textile mills, we doused recycled nylon in a benzyl alcohol solution, then heat-shrunk it to disrupt the fibres at a molecular level.
