Vitamin E has a role in the protection of cells from oxidative stress. This ‘oxidative stress’ appears to be a major factor in many human diseases. Vitamin E protects the cells from the damage of free radicals; molecules with unpaired electrons that cause damage to cells and can contribute to the development of disease. Vitamin E is found naturally in a variety of foods, including nuts, nut oils, olive oil, leafy green vegetables and avocados.
