The Colmcille ("kolm-kill") design is one that is truly Irish, through and though. Named after an Irish abbot, Columba, and is one of the Patron Saints of Ireland (he continued the work of Saint Patrick). If you were to visit any graveyard in Ireland, you'll have seen the intricate knotwork on crosses. While knotwork itself isn't unique to Ireland, it's a very common feature to traditional design. In our linen, it adds a definitively Irish feel, without being overly complicated.
