Choosing this wonderful single cask for a Founders Private Cellar bottling was one of the easiest decisions I have made in a while. What a spectacular whisky. I really didn’t expect to be able to experience the rum notes, thinking that the smoke would drown them out, but it doesn’t, so we end up with a sublime whisky that has oodles of rich smoke but also plenty of notes we would expect from a rum cask. Add a bit of water, and the smoke levels drop a lot, softening the whisky and allowing the fruitiness to shine through. Buy this to drink, far more enjoyable than looking at it on the shelf. Th
