When times were tough Rachael’s Pop’s would go up to Lightning Ridge with his mate hoping to make some money. They would climb down into a disused opal mine looking for treasures. Her Nana didn’t like it, it is insanely dangerous to climb into a disused mine. Gives me shivers just to think about it. But, in the garage Pops had a bucket of the magical rocks that he found on these adventures. As a child Rachael would look through these rocks and listen to her Pop’s stories. Rachael gave me the honour of creating a ring with one of these very rare rough Australian opals to remember the character
