Hand-thrown in my studio in rural southwest France, this generously rounded vase combines a satin-matt white glaze inside and above the shoulder with an unglazed body decorated in vivid bands of coloured porcelain slip. The soft contrast between the glazed and raw surfaces highlights its sculptural curves and quiet strength. Each vase is individually made, so subtle variations in form and colour reflect the rhythm of wheel-throwing and the individuality of handmade ceramics.
