The BA3 marks Ernest Race’s debut for Race Furniture, a testament to ingenuity and resilience in post-war Britain. Debuted at the 1946 Britain Can Make It exhibition and awarded the Gold Medal at the 1954 Milan Triennale, this chair was revolutionary—crafted from salvaged fighter‑plane aluminium and parachute silk upholstery. One of the world’s first mass‑produced chairs, over 250,000 units were made by 1964, serving troopships and public institutions.
