A frontrunner at the inaugural Bolton Marathon in 1981, and named the ‘marathon shoe of the year’ by the acclaimed Vince Regan. The WHIRLWIND was released alongside the LA‘84 in 1980, developed as a more supportive training alternative to the TORNADO racing shoe. Difference between the two styles was predominantly in the sole, while the LA‘84 was designed with greater foot support and longevity, the WHIRLWIND emphasized lightweight performance. Much like its predecessor the TORNADO, the WHIRLWIND was inspired by the atmospheric phenomenon of swiftly whirling columns of air known as whirlwinds.
