Developed in the late 1960s, the shoe originally featured an ultra-light kangaroo suede upper, an athletic track-spike last, and a low-profile German-style rubber outsole. Designed as a road marathon running and training shoe, it quickly became renowned for its outstanding performance in the sporting market of its time.
