Every Munro and Kerr lampshade is made to order and by hand to your requirements in our south London studio. Our hessian is woven from the fibers of the jute plant. The jute fiber comes from the inner stem of the jute plant which is first stripped of its outer non-fibrous layer revealing the inner fibers that are between 1 and 4 meters long. These fibers are then spin and woven directly into fabric. Jute is a rain fed crop with little need for fertilizer or pesticides in contrast to cottons heavy requirements, it is therefore considered to be a more sustainable material. We have been searching
