This long banana shallot has a superb, highly praised, robust flavour that is perfect in salads and casseroles. With copper-coloured skins, each set produces a cluster of up to nine bulbs and stores well. Shallots are small, golden-brown members of the onion family and have a sweet, delicate flavour and aroma. They are more subtle than onions but less pungent than garlic. The main bulb is made up of several smaller ones, which are split and dried at harvest time.
