The 72 degree Diamond is the 'chunky' one in the Diamond family. Five of these Diamonds make up a 5 pointed star and the shape tessellates with the 36 degree Diamond and the Pentagon (of the same edge length). 72 degree Diamonds are best known for their use in the rather unusual Penrose Quilt Patterns, which do not have the classic periodic symmetry repeats of normal quilt patterns (for examples please google 'Penrose quilt patterns') They are very similar to the diamonds originally used in Jane Austen's Diamond quilt and are also used in several of Willyne Hammersteins Millefiori Quilts patte
