Our Trellis design is a licensed William Morris design that was first produced in 1864. Trellis was inspired by the rose garden of Morris home Red House in Bexleyheath. Trellis was the first wallpaper design Morris produced but was only printed in the early 1870s when his company Morris, Marshall, Faulkner Co. had enough money to finance the design. Since it s a detailed and complex design and one full of colour at a time printing required block printing, it was necessary for him to have formed the Firm before he could print Trellis. The birds within Trellis were designed by Morris good friend
