Tea tree oil has many medicinal properties when applied topically, these include antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral action. It is best to dilute the oil in any vegetable oil (olive, almond etc), rather than applying neatly on the skin, which can cause irritation. You can use tea tree for inhalations to relieve cold flu symptoms, in a bath and for massage to help fight athletes foot and other skin infections. Tea tree can be used on its own, although it does smell much nicer when combined with other oils like lavender, geranium, peppermint, eucalyptus.
