Callistemon salignus , the white bottlebrush, is one of the most elegant and reliable of the bottlebrushes for a warm British garden. Unlike its crimson cousins, this one carries soft, creamy-white bottlebrush spikes from late spring to midsummer, and it earns its other common name, pink tips, from the new growth, which emerges a glowing coppery-pink before settling to slender, willow-like green leaves. Crush a leaf and it smells of lemon; peel back an older stem and the bark is papery white. It holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Hardiness and seasons. This is a plant for the warmest corner
