A tender pair of vintage East African busts, most likely carved in Kenya, capturing the quiet strength and poise of an African couple. Their softly modelled faces, elongated necks and serene upward gaze give them a sense of stillness, as though looking out across an endless horizon, or simply toward one another. Carved from mottled brown Kisii stone in the late 1970s or early 1980s, these small sculptures belong to the tradition of Kenyan workshop carving made for travellers passing through Nairobi and the safari routes.
