It is a structural analog to MES and it’s chemical structure contains a morpholine ring. With a pKa of 7.20, MOPS is an excellent buffer for many biological systems at near-neutral pH. MOPS has inert properties and is capable of buffering within a pH range of 6.5 – 7.9 in solutions. MOPS does not interact with any metal ions, and with it’s significant metal-buffer
