Originally made as a light floor covering or seat cover, this heavy kantha quilt is embroidered with intricate Holbein stitches in a zig zag pattern known as Lik Phul (square stitch). This style is a very heavy weight, almost as thick as a woven kilim rug, so it works beautifully draped over a sofa, a bench or on the bed as a thick blanket. The all-over stitching is beautifully done, the bright pink on white on the back creating an overall effect of light pink and the green almost shimmering on the front.
