This large, heavy kantha quilt was hand crafted many years ago in Bengal using layers of white sari fabric, with intricate geometric patterns hand sewn with tiny stitches known as "lohori" or wave pattern. Lohori is one of the oldest forms of kantha, dating back to at least the early 19th Century (although this one would have been made at a later date, probably around the late 19th to early 20th Century).
