We have not been to Sumatra. Not yet. It is one of the places still ahead of us on the map, a chapter of the adventure we have not written. But coffee this good should not have to wait for us to catch up. So we chose Sumatra Sunset the honest way: on the cup alone, against the same standard every Band of Beans coffee has to meet. It is grown in the volcanic soil around Lake Toba, in the highlands of northern Sumatra, and processed wet-hulled, the method that gives Indonesian coffee its low, earthy depth. In the cup it is tobacco and warm spice, full-bodied, a coffee that holds its ground again
