66091 arrived in the UK in 1999 and, like the rest of the EWS fleet, was put straight into service. Like 66017, it was not initially fitted with auto-couplers or mirrors, gaining these during the mid-2000s. 66091 retained its EWS livery until June 2020, when it became the first to be repainted into plain DRS blue as part of a locomotive hire contract, along with a number of other DB Class 66s. It was returned to DB Cargo in early 2024 and reinstated to the DB fleet in full red livery in early 2025.
